The Gen 2 boasts a 19000 rpm motor. That’s 4000 rpm’s more than one of the other frothers we’ve reviewed here in the past, the Café Casa. They are of course a completely different pair of beasts, and the numbers don’t lie: that difference translates to a 26.7% greater output compared to the Café Casa.
But don’t worry about it splattering your milk all over the place. Just like the Café Casa, it comes with a control mechanism that lets you adjust the speed. Unlike the Café Casa’s limited 2-speed switch, however, the Gen 2 uses a wheel that lets you adjust the power to the level that you are comfortable with.
Whether that’s frothing your milk, or beating eggs, or whipping up some cream, this handy little tool will impress you with the great flexibility that comes with this great power. And this multipurpose usage is really where the more powerful motor shines. When it comes to frothing milk, it still does it in 20 seconds, like its predecessor.
Now unusually, the features include something that isn’t even a feature at all, so much as instructions for how to properly insert the batteries. The page is strangely particular about the batteries being inserted in the right order. I suppose we can chalk it up to being part of the very detailed manual included with the device.
The Gen 2 comes with a no questions asked 30-day money back guarantee, which is great for when you end up with a defective factory product and just want to return it. Even better is the manufacturer’s 3-year defective replacement warranty. It specifically mentions “factory defectives”, though, so you’ll have to read the fine print on what qualifies as such. The Gen 2 is made of 18/10 stainless steel, “head to toe”, if the advertising is to be believed. This means of course that it isn’t just easy to clean (follow the instructions as written), it’s also made of hardy stuff that is sure to survive a couple of years of wear and tear, giving you your money’s worth.
So What’s The Point?
Two things that go hand in hand that make this frother a winner: the most powerful motor available – that I know of, at any rate – and unmatched flexibility. With the ability to fine tune the Gen 2’s speed, you will be able to do a myriad of things with it aside from frothing up your milk, which it does very well, of course.
I’m surprised they didn’t include a cook book for all the things you can use it to mix up. I’ve said this already for the Café Casa, but I might have to add something to that. If Alton Brown would like the Café Casa as a multitasker, then he will most definitely love the Bru Joy Gen 2.
Perfectly Imperfect
You’re going to have to spend a little extra on a couple of AA batteries, which are, unfortunately, not included. We don’t know how much power it consumes, but we were hoping they at least gave us some batteries to go. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the case. Still, this is something a quick trip to the nearest convenience store won’t fix. Just be sure to have batteries on hand when you order this frother.

More likely than not, it’s because of the crazy motor that just topped the Café Casa.
Here’s what some of the customers have had to say.
One customer praised the flexibility of the wheel mechanism, as it allows for far better control than merely having one or two speeds. They also appreciated that it had as much power as it claimed, as opposed to other frothers who advertised the same, but didn’t deliver. Aside from milk, they used it on protein shakes and powdered veggies.
Another praised its compactness and portability, calling it a frother for someone on the go, or to bring to the office.
A third customer actually had some creative uses for the Bru Joy, using it to whip up some appetizing sauces, as well as mixing in some coconut cream in their tea. That sounds rather mouthwatering.
One customer pointed out that you had to be careful when it came to handling the Gen 2, however. While it could probably take some scratches, you shouldn’t expect it to be able to take a beating. The material is a good finish, but it’s somewhat fragile. It would be in your best interests if you didn’t throw it around the kitchen. Instead, put it in a nice secure spot where it won’t fall and cause the wand to bend. That would not give you nice results.
As stated earlier, there’s a factory defect warranty, so it would probably be best to keep in mind that no appliance is perfectly built 10 out of 10 times.
All in all, the Bru Joy Gen 2 is a handheld milk frother that deserves a look. More than that, it deserves a test drive, and if you love it, then keep it. If you hate it, just send it back for a refund. Though I find it hard to believe anyone would hate such a flexible kitchen tool. This is definitely worth the $39.95 list price.
